Letting your property

From 1 October 2008, an EPC is required whenever a building in the social or private rented sectors is let to a new tenant. EPCs are valid for 10 years and can be reused as many times as required within that period.

Selling your property

Every home being sold in England and Wales requires a Home Information Pack.  This legislation applies to those wishing to undertake a  private domestic sale, sale of property in the rental sector, and local authority domestic housing.

Part of the HIP is the mandatory Energy Performance Certificate, this requires a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) to assess your home and provide a energy performance rating in the form of a certificate (EPC) this is then added to the HIP.
